"Helios Smart Home" residential complex is the first multi-storey apartment building in Russia designed and constructed with an innovative facade system BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) modules in the segment of grid-connected SPPs with a capacity over 100 kW for residential construction.

The first 24-story building of this residential project, based on a facade solar plant, was constructed and commissioned in 2024 in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan. The solar facade system by "Unigreen Energy" will generate electricity for the power supply of common areas: elevators, halls, entrance and courtyard lighting, intercoms, facade lighting, vestibule area, etc.

The decision by the developer "ISK-StroyFederation" to use the solar facade system was motivated by the potential to increase the attractiveness of the residential property, save on electricity, and employ eco-friendly solutions in construction.

The BIPV solar facade system is a ventilated facade structure based on photovoltaic modules, installed instead of the building's conventional cladding material.

The project uses 465 BIPV type B photovoltaic modules (with clear front glass and black back glass) with an individual power of 390 watts.

The total installed capacity of the BIPV system is 181.35 kW. The expected annual electricity production, based on a 50% probability calculation, is about 150,000 kWh, allowing the residents of the multi-apartment building to significantly save on electricity bills and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50 tons per year.

"Unigreen Energy" specialists have carried out the design, supply of all equipment for the BIPV system, connection and commissioning of the inverter equipment, and supervised all stages of the BIPV mounting project until its commissioning. The installation of the BIPV system was not particularly complex and was carried out independently by the developer.

The PV modules used as part of BIPV system have undergone all necessary tests for use in residential construction, as evidenced by the obtained permits.

The equipment installed in the project allows real-time monitoring of BIPV system parameter: currents and voltages of each photovoltaic module chain, instantaneous power, and the amount of electricity output over any period — hour, day, month and year.

"We chose 'Unigreen Energy' solar solutions for the construction of the project because they are technologically advanced and eco-friendly. The BIPV modules are implemented as a familiar curtain wall system, and their installation process is not different, which we could easily perform independently – it's convenient and quick for us. We are grateful to 'Unigreen Energy' for the high-quality engineering design, project implementation support and supervision at every stage of the BIPV system construction and launching. Using solar panels in building facades is the technology of the future."
